Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day” is today, and it’s a great time to get the girls in your life excited about engineering!
In 2009, the American Society of Engineering Education reported that women received only 17.8% of undergraduate engineering degrees, a 15-year-low. And, according to a study by Intel, only 18% of teen girls say they have considered a career in engineering compared to 37% of teen boys.
Take a look at this video that shows how easy it is to introduce girls to science…and the excitement that follows.
The Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day site features a collection of easy experiments to try at home. To find events near you or check out their other resources, visit http://www.eweek.org/EngineersWeek/Introduce.aspx
